“Dunajec” Song and Dance Ensemble

Dunajec Song and Dance Ensemble was founded by Father Miroslaw Frankowski, a Society Christ Priest in 1999 at Our Lady of Czestochowa in Sterling Heights, MI. Most of the dancers are teenagers; young adults of Polish descent or born in Poland. Some of the group members do not have Polish blood, but they have fallen in love with our colorful traditions. Dunajec presents Polish national and folk dances of many different regions of Poland.

“Dunajec” Song and Dance Ensemble in its short time of existence has had many performances in the state of Michigan and has also performed many times in Canada. Dunajec performs for great Religious and National Holidays of Poland to keep up with the traditions and memories of our ancestors. The Polish language, which is spoken between the dancers and their love for Polish culture, can be seen in the way they act and perform.

The first Artistic Director who helped Father Frankowski to create the group was Barbara Dabrowska, a dancer of Song and Dance Ensemble “Slask”. Andrzej Kapiciak prepared the first choreography for Dunajec Dancers. Presently, the director of the group is Elzbieta Gramek, and the artistic director and choreographer is Tomasz Kielar. This year, Dunajec Song and Dance Ensemble celebrates its 5 th Anniversary.
